This painting is composed of two superimposed layers that engage in a dialogue between deterioration, the passage of time, and critical intervention. The first layer is a promotional poster from the oil company Pemex, recognizable by its distinctive institutional green and partially visible graphic elements, such as the red flame. This base serves as a symbol of national imagery and the country’s natural resources.

Over this original image, the phrase “SE VENDE” (“FOR SALE”) has been added later, in a bold and direct manner, painted in large, rough letters. The phrase interrupts and recontextualizes the poster, becoming both a political and poetic statement. The deterioration of both layers — peeling paint, faded colors, the mix of textures — reinforces a sense of abandonment, eroded memory, and critique of the processes of privatization and the decay of collective heritage.
